| Forward Corey Watkins came through the junior setup in Cardiff and showed great potential early on by playing a major part as the Junior Devils secured the under 16s South Division 1 title in 2005/06. In the same season his excellent form saw him step up to represent the ENL Devils aged just 16 before a brief stint in Swindon the following year. In 2006/07 Watkins made appearances for both the EPL and ENHIL Wildcats before eventually making his way back to Cardiff for the 2008/09 campaign. Now aged 18, Watkins put in a strong year with 18 points from 21 games helping the ENL Devils to a mid-table finish and earning him a spot on the roster for the following term. In 2009/10 he was then again a key figure as Cardiff pushed for the title, eventually finishing six points behind the Dynamos, with his tally of 22 points from 25 games helping keep his side in the hunt until late in the season. 2009/10 also saw Watkins split his time with the Elite League Devils as he put pen to paper on a two way contract and he went on to represent the most senior side a number of times in the top tier as well as a brief EPL showing for the Romford Raiders in the EPL. |
